Just Wondering

You ever wonder how many people read your blog? I know all the blogs you see on my side bar I check almost everyday. I don't think any of them have a ticker to show how many people have accessed their site or anything. Whenever I talk about it with my boyfriend, he always tells me to base it on the amount of comments I get per day. He says that at least 10% of blog readers leave comments. The most comments I've ever gotten (excluding myself) is 8 and it is from this post I wrote awhile back. So if 8 people posted that day, does that mean that 80 people read my blog that day? In reality, on average I get about 3-- 4 comments (no I didn't actually do the math, that's a guess). So does that mean that about 30 -- 40 people pass by to check on my knitting and my life everyday? I don't know.

I guess what I'm really saying is that this blog is a public journal that I keep intimate with a couple of people due to the fact that only a couple of people comment on a regular basis. It would be great if more people would like to come apart of the circle of commentors but it's not a factor in how I would write this blog or if I would continue writing it. Frankly, I don't think more comments mean more readers (or Internet Friends as I like to call them) just more comments. Sometimes people make 2 or three comments a day (like on this blog) which can fill up a comments section very fast. Truthfully, I'd still write even if no one reads this thing.

So to solve my inquiry, I would just like for anyone who reads this post today to leave a message in the comments, just so that I get an idea for how many people read this thing. And if you feel more comfortable writing in Spanish, don't worry. Te entiendo (I'll understand).

I read your blog even though I don't comment all the time. Just so you know

I read your blog....if you want to know, you can get a stat counter and insert the html on your sidebar at http://www.statcounter.com.

It tells you IP addresses & countries, where they came from, key word search, etc.

I second the stat counter suggestion. Although, checking your stats can become quite addictive. ; )

About the dye-along, you can click the link in the post about it on my blog and it will take you to a page with all of the info you should need - there are links to tutorials and everything.

Don't worry about never having dyed before. Most of the people in the dye-along have never dyed before either.

Well you know I'm here! I use a stat counter and I also count my bloglines subscriptions. The bloglines is up to 35 and I thought I probably had about 40 readers, but my stat counter says I average 170 unique visitors a week! so I don't know what that tells you... but I'd say 80 readers is not a bad guess to start with.

hey kelly,
i subscribe via bloglines, so i know when you've updated and i come and visit :)
and i know how many people visit my blog because i use a sitemeter.
what i've learned, a LOT more people visit than comment.
sometimes i do, sometimes i don't (comment).
your posts are usually engaging, thus i hop up on my wee soapbox and spill my beans :)

I use newsgator to keep up on my blog reading. I have a lot but I have a special section for those that I really commit to reading, of which yours is one. I don't always comment because I don't always have something worthwhile to say.

If you ever want to know how many visit your page you can use statcounter.com. On average 300 visit my blog but I only get 12 comments.

Hi Kelly,

I read often but don't always comment as well. My blog is one of the slow ones for comments and like you, I write for myself. It's nice because I'm slowly getting to know the few regular commentors there. A few months ago I put in a counter and was really surprised at the traffic that goes through my blog. I really thought no one was reading at all or maybe just one or two people. I like the idea of writing to suit your own needs. That's what attracts me to a blog in the first place.

take care!
Lavender.
